Alyssa & Kyle’s wedding day unfolded like a gentle, spring breeze. The girls primped and prepped and pampered Alyssa in a cozy suite at the IMU Biddle Hotel, while the menfolk hung out in A & K’s Bloomington home. At 1:00p, the bells of St. Charles tolled, and Alyssa stepped into the massive stone sanctuary with queenly grace and beauty. Tears. Promises. Rings. Communion. A blessing. A kiss.
The bridal party frolicked on the outskirts of IU’s campus amid the dogwood trees and in the shadows of the Sample Gates, and then into the heart of downtown Bloomington (alleyways make for the BEST photo backdrops). It was only fitting that a pit stop was made at Brother’s, the place where Alyssa and Kyle’s story began.
Alumni Hall was all pink and gold and sequins and brilliant light. The speech of Alyssa’s dad and the beauty of A & K’s first dance reminded of me the reason I do what I do…to freeze the pivotal moments that make weddings day the sacred, love-filled events that they are. Under flashing, color-drenched lights, those gathered danced late into the night…and Alyssa and Kyle’s were sent off into the night and into a new beginning.
Alyssa & Kyle…may ‘home’ always, always be found in one another. May you discover and become your truest selves as you love one another. May the beauty of belonging to each other never be taken for granted.
