Anniversary Session // Bloomington

I’m deeply motivated by stories and the power of story-telling. It’s why I do what I do with my camera. When Jessica wrote me about the surprise 15-year anniversary trip she was planning for her husband and her ideas for photoshoots within the trip, I was rather excited. We were alike in our love of stories, and she wanted me to capture the narrative of their trip….this precious slip of a moment in their much longer, wider, deeper story of marriage and raising a family.

It began with an afternoon photoshoot in and around their AirBnB by Lake Monroe. Coffee. A bike ride along the beach. Enjoying a quiet moment of togetherness by the water and Troy strumming his guitar. Jessica surprised Troy with a stunning outfit change and a private hot air balloon ride. Yes, a hot air balloon ride! I captured their last moments on the ground before the hot air ballon took them into the blue skies in that perfect hour before sunset.

The next morning, we met at Oliver Winery. They explored the grounds with a slow meandering. And that night, I met them on Kirkwood for a romantic shoot in their evening wear that ended with the setting of the sun.

15 years of marriage. There is so much in THAT story; the following photographs are a celebration of their unfolding story. It’s a story founded on love and motivated by love. May we all find that kind of love…loves that are true and deep and unconditional…in our partners, families, and communities.
